A private instance of Excel

A private Excel instance is isolated from other invocations. For example, if the user opens a workbook it will open in a new or another instance of Excel, not the private one.

Excel 2013 moved from the Multiple Document Interface to the same Single Document Interface already used by Word. One effect is that a new workbook opens in the oldest instance running, so the normal number of instances is one.

The above Microsoft post describes how to start a new Excel instance from the Windows UI and from the command shell. This post suggests it can be done from VBA:

It's unclear to me what in user2140173's answer compels a separate instance, but it looks like the reference to the GUID.

Has anyone solved this problem for Excel 2013 or Excel 2016 from APL?
