i←1+i vs. i+←1
- At the time the a f← b construct was not available.
- Even if it were, the right hand expression is somewhat problematic. i←1+i usually does not stand alone and can be in expressions such as n>i←1+i. Even today I have to look up or conduct an experiment to see what n>i+←1 does.
