My APL Fonts Have Disappeared or Broken! How Can I Fix This?

Postby Liam|Dyalog on Thu Mar 31, 2011 3:41 pm

Some of you may have noticed that it is sometimes possible to inadvertently corrupt or delete the fonts used by all versions of Dyalog APL.

An example of this where this might happen is uninstalling a windows version Dyalog APL from a machine where multiple versions are installed.
Please note that due to a significant change in the delivery system for Dyalog APL 13.0 on Windows, font corruption is likely to occur when removing any version of Dyalog APL from a machine containing any combination of version 13.0 and all prior releases. An example for clarity; this means that on a machine where both Dyalog APL v12.1 and v13.0 are installed, if you uninstall either version, it is likely the fonts will be damaged. This issue will not occur between version 13.0 and all future releases.

The good news is that this issue can be easily fixed by a simple re-installation of the font files used by Dyalog APL. For simplicity and to ensure no loss of user defined data for Dyalog APL, we recommend you re-install the fonts by hand.

A detailed guide on how to do this can be found here.

Furthermore the fonts themselves can be found over at the http://www.dyalog.com/apl-font-keyboard.html page of the website
