This document contains information that may affect the installation of Dyalog APL.
This file is setup_readme.htm and is included in the help directory in the Dyalog installation directory.
This conference edition (V120.22) is released under the non-commercial licence; it should not be used for production. We suggest that you use it only to investigate the features which John Daintree mentioned in his presentations which are available at Dyalog TV. We offer no support for this version, but we would be interested in any feedback you have. This edition is currently available only as 64-bit Unicode for Microsoft Windows.
If you already have Dyalog APL installed on your Windows PC the installation process will pick up the serial number from your existing installation. If you do not already have a version of Dyalog APL installed on your Windows PC then simply leave the serial number field empty. This conference edition will not alter any file associations.
The contents of this version and the installation process is similar to any other version of Dyalog APL on Windows: if you have installed on Windows before, you will be able to install this version in exactly the same way !
V120.22 will co-exist with any other version of Dyalog on your machine; there is no need to uninstall any existing version. Just remember that you cannot )load workspaces created by later versions - so any workspace you create in V120 will not be loadable by 18.2 or earlier !
Dyalog V120.22 can be installed either with administrator rights, or without. Dyalog Ltd strongly recommends that whenever possible, the installation is performed with administrator privileges.
An installation performed without administrator privileges has the following limitations:
Note: Dyalog strongly recommends that if not already installed, you include the VS2015 runtime packages when you install Dyalog APL; failure to do so may result in the failure of .Net-related code.
Note: the installation of Dyalog APL will require a reboot of the system to be fully effective !

The newly-installed files will be put in a directory similar to c:\Users\andys\AppData\Local\Programs\Dyalog\Dyalog Conference 2022 Edition.

We intend to issue updates to the conference edition from time to time. It is expected that to upgrade you will need to uninstall the conference edition, reboot your machine and install the latest version (which again requires a reboot).
If you have multiple versions of Dyalog APL installed on your PC, uninstalling any version may result in the APL fonts being uninstalled. Dyalog has placed a zip file containing the APL fonts here so that you can download and reinstall them.

Installing the 2022 Conference Edition does not alter any file associations.
