Kristoffer Kromberg – a chip off the old block

Kristoffer Kromberg (kristoffer@dyalog.com) started a 3-month trial period at Dyalog in December. Since then he has been on a vigorous training tour to Montreal and Rochester NY, spending time with Dan Baronet and Brian Becker. Finally, Kristoffer spent time with Andy Shiers as a member of the QA and support team before being hired as a full time member of the newly formed "APL Tools Team" Dyalog intends to invest significantly in the development of new tools for application development in APL in the years to come and we look forward to having an avid gamer assist us in designing attractive tools for new (and old) generations of APL users.

Kristoffer is a chip off the old block – he has been exposed to Dyalog APL a few times since his early teens, but sensibly decided to try his hands on a few other things, before finally being convinced that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Kristoffer says, "When I was younger I kept being daunted by the "steep learning curve" which one embarks on when starting on Dyalog APL. I did some programming never-the-less, mostly games, including a trailer parking game which was presented at the Dyalog '06 conference in Elsinore. I have also played with Stefano Lanzavecchia's WildServer and helped Morten test new things in Dyalog APL.

"Prior to deciding that I was now ready for Dyalog full time, I studied biochemistry at Copenhagen University and subsequently embarked on an education as a teacher. I am hopeful that the experience I've gained through these studies will be useful in my work with Dyalog. Specifically, I hope – more long term – to be able to teach Dyalog APL and help spread the word of this great programming language to younger people. I am looking forward to contributing positively to Dyalog’s future and at the same time I will undertake the task of voicing the opinions and experiences of young Dyalog users".

Kristoffer is 25 years of age and lives in Elsinore, Denmark. His life philosophy is to be loving and caring towards other people and to explore the use of spirituality as a tool to help creating a better world. He is very interested in healing massage, he trains regularly in the gym and in the summer he takes to running. Kristoffer is also a very good drummer.
